Dirty nickel mining powering clean energy

“Nickel is a ‘critical mineral,’ needed for clean energy technology like batteries,” Leah Borts-Kuperman writes for The Narwhal about Canada’s drive to be a lead supplier of metals and minerals for the Green Transition. “It falls under the federal government’s controversial critical minerals strategy … It does this in part by fast-tracking environmental assessments and, critics say, limiting community participation in decision-making and underemphasizing the ecological importance of resource-rich areas.”

There’s an awful lot to unpack in the above quotation. Who would ever have imagined ten years ago that dirty, filthy, toxic batteries would be described as “clean”. Batteries are some of the most toxic products ever made by humans. By toxic I mean that they actively kill life and destroy our environment. And yet, today, batteries are labelled as “clean” because they are part of the enormous con that is “renewable” energy, which is part of the enormous energy industry con and scam that is called the Green Transition.
